What is a Professional Employer Organization (PEO)?

A Professional Employer Organization (PEO) handles employee administrative functions on an “outsourced” basis for your business. These functions include payroll, benefits administration, human resources, workers’ compensation and risk management. The “Concept” is simple. You enter into a “Co-Employer” relationship. You remain the “Business Employer.” You retain the right to hire, terminate, supervise, direct and set policies for your employees. You maintain care, custody and control of your workforce. What is the ASO Concept?

An ASO (also commonly referred to as “Business Process Outsourcing”) provides employee administration without the “Co-Employer” relationship. The difference is you retain your own statutory employer status.
